$tair$tep$avings

Track rebates, gift cards, gift certificates and coupons... and stop letting money slip through your fingers.

StairStepSavings
You can use this advanced, integrated program to track both large and small savings and, in particular, to keep track of rebates, gift cards, gift certificates and coupons so you don't forget and lose out on them.

For instance, one day recently, I checked the mail to find a rebate check for an external hard drive I purchased as a Christmas present for my son.  It had a rebate that, 7 days prior, I noticed was past due.  I emailed the rebate company as to why it was late, and for an eta (estimated time of arrival).  They promptly replied with an apology and an eta of 7-10 business days.  4 business days later (or 7 regular days... there was a holiday that week) the check arrived.  Without $tair$tep$avings it might have been a loss.

That same day I also noticed that a gift certificate for a local restaurant was expiring that day.  My wife and I dined out that evening and used the gift certificate, thanks to $tair$tep$avings' reminder.

The program uses an advanced type of logic called "Stair-Step Logic."  This allows the status of rebates and other savings to be seen on one screen, at a glance, instead of jumping around to different screens and/or tabs.

The various due dates are displayed in a stair-step fashion, based on what phase of the savings process it's in.  A date that is late, or soon to be late, is displayed in red to make it stand out from other dates in black and gray.  Also, for those who have difficulty seeing colors, the red is accompanied by different date formats, such as

mm.dd.yy    for due soon,
mm.dd.yy  for due very soon, and
mm-dd-yy for past due.

Those dates might look like

mm.dd.yy
mm.dd.yy
mm-dd-yy

to the color sight challenged, but still distinguishable from

mm/dd/yy.
